MORAVIAN'S SCHERWIN PLACES 18th AT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

MUNICH, GERMANY --- Christina Scherwin (Denmark), a member of the Moravian College women's track and field team and the 2002 NCAA Division III National Champion in the javelin, placed 18th at the 2002 European Championships on Tuesday, August 6th in Munich, Germany.

Scherwin, who won the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference titles in the shot put, both indoors and outdoors, and the javelin, had a throw of 50.51 meters (165 feet, eight inches) in a soaking rain.  She will be competing at the 2002 Danish Championships during the week of August 12-16.

Scherwin, who helped the Greyhounds win their seventh straight MAC Indoor title and tenth consecutive MAC Outdoor Championship, will return to Moravian in time for the fall semester, and she has two years of eligibility remaining for the Greyhounds.
