MORAVIAN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SELECTED SECOND IN COMMONWEALTH POLL
ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team has been selected to finish
second in the 2002 Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference head
coaches.
The Greyhounds, who have had six straight 20-win seasons and six consecutive postseason
appearances, received 49 points and two first place votes to finish five points behind
Juniata College, which had 54 points and five first place votes. Susquehanna University
was third with 36 points and Messiah College was fourth at 35 points.
Moravian, under the direction of tenth-year head coach Shelley Bauder, returns five starters
and nine letterwinners from last year's 25-9 squad that played in the Commonwealth title
match for the sixth straight season and made the school's first-ever volleyball appearance
in the ECAC South Championships, which the Greyhounds hosted.
The Greyhounds will open their 2002 campaign on Saturday, August 31st with three matches
in a tournament hosted by Franklin & Marshall College.
