MCLAIN, COWLISHAW & MORAVIAN DEFENSE RANKED NATIONALLY
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Junior punter John McLain (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere HS) is
ranked 35th in the nation in punting, senior linebacker Vince Cowlishaw (Chatham,
NJ/Chatham HS) is tied for 14th in the country in forced fumbles and the Moravian
College defense is ranked in the top 40 of the third release of the NCAA Division III football
statistics for the 2002 season.
McLain is averaging 38.6 yards per punt this season and he has punted
20 times with five punts of over 50 yards. Cowlishaw has forced two fumbles
in Moravian’s three games for an average of 0.67 forced fumbles per game.
The Greyhounds, who are 1-2 on the year, are 29th in the country in rushing defense,
only allowing 78.3 yards per contest on the ground.
Moravian will return to action on Saturday, October 5th when the Greyhounds will travel
to Lebanon Valley College for a Middle Atlantic Conference game beginning at 1:30 p.m.
