SIX GREYHOUNDS NAMED TO CROSS COUNTRY ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College women’s cross country team placed five members
on the 2002 Middle Atlantic Conference All-Conference Teams while the Greyhound men’s
squad had one student-athlete honored at the 2002 MAC Championships last weekend.
To earn All-Conference accolades, a student-athlete must finish in the top 20 at the
MAC Championships with the top ten finishers earning First Team honors and the second ten
place winners garnering Second Team accolades.
For the Greyhound women, who won their tenth straight MAC title last weekend, sophomore Heather
McGarvie (Medford, NJ/Shawnee HS) paced the team with a third place finish in
a time of 23:14 on the 6,000-meter course at the Lancaster County Central Park. Senior Jennifer
Wagner (Riegelsville, PA/Wilson HS) placed fifth in 23:42 while freshman Erica
Angell (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill HS) was eighth in 23:58 to earn first team
honors.
Moravian's second team honorees were junior Angie Morgan (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty
HS) in 12th place of the 116-runner field with a time of 24:00 and freshman Alexis
Vergalla (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees HS) in 15th place in 24:14.
Sophomore Patrick Grogan (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS), who completed
the 8,000-meter men’s course in a time of 27:39, helped the Moravian men to a seventh
place team finish. Grogan's time was good enough for 17th place in the
121-competitor race and a spot on the All-Conference Second Team.
