BRIA & KRANCHALK NAMED TO VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT SECOND TEAM

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior midfielder Justina Bria (Warminster, PA/William Tennent HS) and senior Allison Kranchalk (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) of the Moravian College women’s soccer team have been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District II College Division Women’s Soccer Second Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

To be eligible for Verizon Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. The College Division is made up of all the NCAA Division II and III Schools in the nation as well as all NAIA schools. Student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools are named to the University Division Teams. District II is made up of schools from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

A total of 33 student-athletes from the district made the Verizon Academic All-District Teams and there were six schools, including Moravian that had two student-athletes selected. The Middle Atlantic Corporation had a total of seven student-athletes honored.

Bria and Kranchalk helped the Greyhounds post a 10-6-2 record this season including a 3-3-1 mark in Commonwealth Conference action. Bria tallied six points on two goals and two assists in 14 matches for Moravian while Kranchalk started all 18 contests at sweeper for the Greyhounds. Kranchalk completed her career with five goals and five assists for 15 points.
