HUGHES & MORAVIAN BASKETBALL SQUADS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men’s and women’s basketball teams are ranked in the top 15 in the country in team categories and junior guard Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is in the top ten individually in the tenth release of the NCAA Division III basketball statistics for the 2002-03 season including games through March 9th.

Hughes is seventh in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 44.8 percent (56 of 125). Moravian, which finished the season at 20-8, is 12th in the nation in free throw percentage at 75.0 percent (500 of 667).

The Moravian women competed in the Commonwealth Conference championship game and the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Semifinals this year.

The men’s squad, which finished the season at 16-11 and also participated in the Commonwealth and ECAC Tournaments, is tied fourth in the country in free throw percentage at 77.8 percent. Moravian, which was the nation’s leader in free throw percentage last season, has made 472of 608 attempts.
