HOLMES & HENNESSY NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PLAYER & PITCHER OF
THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Sophomore second baseman Leah Holmes (Clarks Green, PA/Abington
Heights HS) and freshman pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold
Township HS) of the Moravian College softball team have been named the Commonwealth
Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances last week.
Holmes helped the Greyhounds to a doubleheader sweep of Haverford College,
5-0 and 12-4 in six innings, in the team’s only action last week. Holmes was
4-for-7, a .571 average, in the twinbill with four RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles
and a triple. In the field, Holmes had eight putouts and three assists
in 11 chances.
Hennessy, who was named the Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week for the
second consecutive week, tossed the first shutout of her career in her only game last week,
the 5-0 win over Haverford. Hennessy allowed just three hits in the game
while striking out nine batters. Hennessy retired the final 15 batters
she faced including eight by strikeout.
Moravian is 11-3 overall this spring and will return to action on Tuesday, March 25th
in a non-conference doubleheader at Ursinus College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
