BREY NAMED ECAC SOUTHERN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CENTREVILLE, MA --- Junior third baseman Janelle Brey (Allentown, PA/Dieruff HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southern Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Brey helped the Greyhounds post a 3-1 record last week with a doubleheader split at Ursinus College and a sweep of rival Muhlenberg College. Brey hit .667 for the week with eight hits in 12 at-bats and she added three doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs. Brey was three-for-six at Ursinus with three doubles and three RBIs, and she had a sacrifice, which led to the only run in Moravian’s 1-0 victory. Brey went five-for-six against the Mules with eight RBIs and a trio of two-run homers. Brey also drew a pair of walks in the doubleheader. Brey also added five putout and ten assists in 17 chances in the field last week at third base.

Moravian is 14-4 on the season and will return to action on Thursday, April 3rd when the team hosts Rowan (NJ) University in a non-conference doubleheader in Bethlehem beginning at 2:30 p.m.
