the women’s lacrosse team, freshman Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold

HS) from the men’s tennis team and junior Dustin McCormick (East
Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg HS) of the golf squad have been named the Moravian
College Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.
Cerco, a midfielder, scored four goals and one assist for the Greyhounds

Hennessy, a pitcher, tossed a pair of victories and set the school record
for strikeouts in a season as Moravian posted a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference record last
week. Hennessy began the week with a 7-2 win at Lebanon Valley College.
She allowed six hits and three walks while fanning seven. Hennessy allowed just two hits
and two walks in a 1-0 victory versus Elizabethtown College, her seventh shutout of the
season. She also ten strikeouts to raise her season total to 117, breaking the previous
Moravian record of 113 set by Amy Croll in 1995. The two victories improved Hennessy’s season
record to 12-4 and lowered her ERA to 0.97. Hennessy is one shutout away
from tying the single season Moravian record. The Greyhounds are 24-8 overall and 9-3 in
the Commonwealth Conference this season. Moravian will be competing in the 2003 Commonwealth
Conference Tournament at Lebanon Valley College on Friday and Saturday, May 2nd & 3rd.
Kurvink posted a 3-1 singles mark last week and he was 1-1 in doubles
action as the Greyhounds posted a 7-8 record for the year. Kurvink, who
plays second singles and second doubles for Moravian, was seeded sixth in the 2003 Middle
Atlantic Conference Individual Championships last weekend and reached the quarterfinals
before being knocked out. Kurvink had a 15-2 singles record this season
and he posted a 50-17-1 mark in his career, making him the first Greyhound to win 50 career
singles matches.
McCormick, Moravian’s top golfer this spring, tied for sixth at
the 2003 MAC Championships last weekend to earn All-Conference First Team honors. McCormick had
a score of 235 in the 54-hole tournament with a low round of 75. McCormick averaged
