BORTZ, HENNESSY & SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN NCAA STATS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two members of the Moravian College softball team and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 40 in the nation in the third NCAA Division III statistics release of the season. The rankings are for games played through April 27th.

Sophomore shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) is 38th in the nation with a .460 batting average with 46 hits in 100 at-bats. On the mound, freshman pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) is 28th in ERA at 0.97 (allowing 15 earned runs in 108 innings of work) and 29th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 7.6 (117 strikeouts in 108 innings).

The Greyhound team is ranked 20th in the country in earned run average with a team ERA of 1.23 (38 earned runs in 216 innings).

Moravian is 26-8 overall and 11-3 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Greyhounds will return to action as the top seed in the 2003 Commonwealth Conference Tournament at Lebanon Valley College, which begins at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd.
