BORTZ, HENNESSY & SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN NCAA STATS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Two members of the Moravian College softball team and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 30 in the nation in the fourth NCAA Division III statistics release of the season. The rankings are for games played through May 4th.

Sophomore shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) is eighth in the nation with a .492 batting average with 58 hits in 118 at-bats. On the mound, freshman pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) is 23rd in ERA at 0.95 (allowing 18 earned runs in 133 innings of work) and 18th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 7.8 (148 strikeouts in 133 innings).

The Greyhound team is ranked 17th in the country in earned run average with a team ERA of 1.15 (42 earned runs in 255 innings), and Moravian is tied for 28th in win-loss percentage at .784 (29-8).

Moravian, which is 29-8 overall, has been seeded third in the NCAA Division III Regional at Ramapo College. The Greyhounds will play sixth seeded the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9th in the second game of the tournament.
