BORTZ, HENNESSY, WEINER & SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College softball team and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 30 in the nation in the sixth NCAA Division III statistics release of the season. The rankings are for games played through Sunday, May 18th.

Sophomore shortstop Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) is fourth in the nation with a .496 batting average with 67 hits in 135 at-bats.

On the mound, freshman pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) is 18th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 7.6 (164 strikeouts in 151 innings pitches). Hennessy and junior Donna Weiner (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park HS) are both tied for 21st in the nation in victories with 16 win each this spring. Hennessy posted a 16-6 record this season while Weiner was 16-4 in the circle.

The Greyhound team is tied for 29th in the country in earned run average with a team ERA of 1.45 (60 earned runs in 289 innings), and Moravian is ranked 29th in win-loss percentage at .762 (32-10) and 29th in fielding percentage at .961 (867 putouts, 309 assists and 48 errors).

Moravian, which completed the season at 32-10 overall, finished as the runner-up in the NCAA Division III Regional hosted by Ramapo College of New Jersey.
