HUGHES & MORAVIAN BASKETBALL SQUADS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men’s and women’s basketball teams
are ranked in the top ten in the country in team categories and junior guard Kim
Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is in the top 30 individualy in the fourth
release of the NCAA Division III basketball statistics for the 2002-03 season including
games through January 26th.
The men’s squad, which is 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the Commonwealth Conference on
the season, are ranked second in the country in free throw percentage at 79.2 percent to
begin the week. Moravian, which was the nation’s leader in free throw percentage
last season, has improved that number to 79.5 percent this week.
Hughes is 14th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at
44.4 percent (32 of 72). Moravian, which is 13-4 on the season and 5-2 in the Commonwealth
Conference, is sixth in the county in scoring offense, averaging 78.3 points per game.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, February 1st when they host Lebanon
Valley College in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. with the
women’s contest. The men are slated to tip-off at 4:00 p.m.
