HUGHES & MORAVIAN BASKETBALL SQUADS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men’s and women’s basketball teams are ranked in the top 20 in the country in team categories and junior guard Kim Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is in the top ten individually in the fifth release of the NCAA Division III basketball statistics for the 2002-03 season including games through February 3rd.

The men’s squad, which is 13-6 overall and 6-2 in the Commonwealth Conference on the season, is ranked third in the country in free throw percentage at 78.2 percent to begin the week. Moravian, which was the nation’s leader in free throw percentage last season, has made 327 of 418 attempts.

Hughes is eighth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 44.9 percent (35 of 78). Moravian, which is 14-5 on the season and 5-3 in the Commonwealth Conference, is 16th in the county in scoring offense, averaging 76.4 points per game.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday, February 5th when they travel to Albright College in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader beginning at 6:00 p.m. with the women’s contest. The men are slated to tip-off at 8:00 p.m.
