HUGHES & MORAVIAN BASKETBALL SQUADS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College men’s and women’s basketball teams
are ranked in the top 30 in the country in team categories and junior guard Kim
Hughes (Manasquan, NJ/St. Rose HS) is in the top ten individually in the seventh
release of the NCAA Division III basketball statistics for the 2002-03 season including
games through February 16th.
The men’s squad, which is 15-9 overall and 8-5 in the Commonwealth Conference on
the season, is ranked third in the country in free throw percentage at 78.1 percent to
begin the week. Moravian, which was the nation’s leader in free throw percentage
last season, has made 418 of 535 attempts.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, February 22nd in a Commonwealth Conference
game versus Juniata College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Hughes is seventh in the nation in three-point field goal percentage
at 43.4 percent (43 of 99). Moravian, which is 18-6 on the season and 9-4 in the Commonwealth
Conference, is 19th in the county in scoring offense, averaging 75.2 points per game, and
the squad is 28th in the nation in free throw percentage at 73.0 percent (416 of 570).
The Moravian women will return to action on Saturday, February 22nd in a Commonwealth
Conference game versus Juniata College beginning at 2:00 p.m.
