MORAVIAN MEN’S SOCCER SELECTED THIRD IN COACHES POLL
ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College men’s soccer team has been picked to finish
third in the 2003 Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference head
coaches.
The Greyhounds received 45 points and one first-place vote. Messiah College, which has
won six consecutive Commonwealth championships, was selected first with 60 points and garnered
six first-place votes while Elizabethtown College was picked second with 54 points and
had one first place vote.
Moravian, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Eric Lambinus,
returns eight starters and 15 letterwinners from last year’s 12-9-2 squad that made
the Commonwealth playoffs for the third year in a row and competed in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic
Championships for the second consecutive season.
The Greyhounds will open their 2003 campaign on Saturday, August 30th at the Drew University
Fall Festival with a 7:00 p.m. match against the host Rangers, the preseason favorite in
the Freedom Conference.
