MORAVIAN’S MARY KATE CORDISCO FEATURED IN THIS WEEK’S FACES IN THE CROWD OF SPORTS ILLUSTRATED

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Mary Kate Cordisco (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame HS), a senior on the 2003 Moravian College women’s volleyball team, is one of six people featured in Faces in the Crowd in the September 22nd issue of Sports Illustrated available on newsstands today.

Cordisco, a right-side hitter for the Greyhounds, is featured for setting an All-Division NCAA record back on the Friday, August 29th. Cordisco recorded 25 consecutive service points in Moravian’s 30-2 first game victory in a three-game sweep of Washington (MD) College on the opening day of the season. Cordisco took over the serve in the match with the score tied 1-1 and served the next 25 points, including 15 service aces. She finished the contest with a Moravian College record 18 service aces.

The previous NCAA Division III record was 23 consecutive points while the NCAA Division II mark is 22 points and the NCAA Division record is 15 points.

Moravian currently has an 11-1 record this season and will return to action on Wednesday, September 24th in a Commonwealth Conference match at Widener University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
