MORAVIAN WOMEN'S SOCCER SQUAD TRAVELS TO CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY FOR EASTERN COLLEGE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

PITTSBURGH, PA --- The Moravian College women's soccer team coming off a 3-2, double-overtime victory at third seed Johns Hopkins University in the quarterfinals, will travel to Carnegie Mellon University in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championships on Saturday and Sunday, November 15th and 16th.

The Greyhounds, the tournament’s sixth seed, will play second seeded Lebanon Valley College (11-3-4) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. while top seeded Carnegie Mellon University (10-2-4) will battle fourth seeded Gwynedd-Mercy College (13-3-5), a 4-0 winner over fifth seed Catholic University, at 1:30 p.m. in the other semifinal. The winners will meet in the championship match on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Moravian and Lebanon Valley have played twice this season, with a 0-0 in the regular season and the Flying Dutchmen earning a 1-0 victory in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals.

Moravian, under the direction of fifth year head coach Eric Lambinus, has an 11-3-4 record this season with a 5-1-1 slate in the Commonwealth Conference. The Greyhounds have played four scoreless ties this season. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America ranked the Greyhounds seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region this week while Moravian is seventh in the region in the final NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional poll. The Greyhounds are in the postseason for the third after appearances in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament in three of the last four seasons and this is Moravian’s first-ever appearance in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championships. Moravian is in its tenth year of women’s soccer with an all-time record of 109-57-8.

Sophomore forward Megan Collins (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney HS) leads the Greyhounds in scoring with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points. Collins was named to the Commonwealth All-Conference First Team last week. Junior forward Brianne DeVries (Stockton, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional HS) has contributed four goals and five assists for 13 points with all four of her goals winning matches. Sophomore midfielder Jessica Cordani (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) has added three goals and three assists for nine points.

Senior midfielder Justina Bria (Warminster, PA/William Tennent HS) has tallied three goals and two assists for eight points while senior midfielder Heather Bichler (Waverly, PA/Abington Heights HS) has scored two goals, including the game-winner on Wednesday, and two assists for six points. Bria earned a spot on the Commonwealth All-Conference Second Team. Freshman midfielder Kristina Adams (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery HS) has three goals and an assist for seven points while freshman forward Alisha Davy (Oaklyn, NJ/Haddon Heights HS) has scored two goals and an assist in her debut season.

Junior defender Kelly Haymaker (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley HS) has scored a goal and two assists for four points. Sophomore forward Lindsay Pohl (West Lawn, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) has added a goal and three assists while freshman defender Erin Gonda (Bethlehem, PA/Salisbury HS), sophomore defender Kindal Estes (New Providence, NJ/New Providence HS) and senior defender Rachel Davy (Oaklyn, NJ/Haddon Heights HS) each have one assist. Gonda was selected to the Commonwealth All-Conference Second Team. Senior defender Jackie Buschta (Whitehall, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) has a goal.

Junior goalie Jill Vaccaro (South Salem, NY/John Jay HS) has allowed just 15 goals in 1,592 minutes of action. Vaccaro has a 0.85 goals-against average, 94 saves, an 11-3-3 record and eight shutouts this season, which breaks her school record of six shutouts in a year. Vaccaro combined with senior keeper Kelly Wakeman (Easton, PA/Easton HS) in shutouts of DeSales University and rival Muhlenberg College. Wakeman has not allowed a goal in 111 minutes while making six saves.

Lebanon Valley also has an 11-2-4 record this season, and the Flying Dutchmen are eighth in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll. Lebanon Valley tied Messiah College for the top spot in the Commonwealth Conference during the regular season.

Senior midfielder Kim McDonald has six goals and four assists for 16 points while senior forward Katie Altemose has tallied five goals and five assists for 15 points to lead the Flying Dutchmen in scoring this season. Altemose has scored four game-winning goals while sophomore midfielder Christy Puthawala has three game-winning goals among her six goals this season. Puthawala has added an assist for 13 points.

Senior midfielder Amber Spell and junior midfielder Christine Schmidt each have three goals and two assists for eight points while sophomore forward Kat Lamplugh has contributed three goals and an assist for seven points for the Flying Dutchmen this fall.

Junior forward Heather Runkle has added a goal and an assist while freshman midfielder Keri Foster, junior midfielder Lisa Giaquinto, freshman forward Gretchen Artz and sophomore midfielder Abbey Esbenshade have each found the back of the net once for Lebanon Valley. Junior forward Ilyse Resnick has added an assist this season.

Sophomore goalie Jess Conrad has a 0.79 goals against average, 102 saves, six shutouts and an 11-3-4 record in 1,598 minutes of action while sophomore keeper Becky Kuhfahl has a 1.71 goals-against average and six saves in 106 minutes of action. The duo has combined on two shutouts.

Carnegie Mellon has a 10-2-4 slate this fall, and the Tartans posted a 3-2-2 record in University Athletic Association action.

Sophomore forward Hallie Dumont leads the squad in scoring with six goals and four assists for 16 points while senior midfielder Merry McConnochie has added six goals and three assists for 15 points with two game-winning goals. Sophomore midfielder/forward Julie Richter has contributed five goals, with two game-winning tallies, and four assists for 14 points while freshman midfielder Lisa Pascoli has three goals and three assists for nine points.

Sophomore back Margaret Beck has found the back of the net three times for the Tartans and added two assists for eight points while senior forward Erika Anderson has contributed three goals and an assist for seven points. Sophomore midfielder/forward Nadya Yaghoubi has also scored three goals for Carnegie Mellon.

Junior goalie Megan Monroe and sophomore keeper Betsy Ricker have combined for a 0.61 goals-against average this season with ten shutouts. Monroe has made 22 saves and has a 0.38 goals-against average in 480 minutes of action while Ricker has 19 stops and a 0.80 goals-against average in 561 minutes.

Gwynedd-Mercy enters the ECAC Semifinals with a 13-3-5 record this season after posting an 8-0-3 mark in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. The Griffins played for an opportunity to reach the NCAA Tournament but lost to Cabrini College on penalty kicks.

Freshman forward Dana Landis leads Gwynedd-Mercy in scoring with 11 goals, including five game-winning goals, and three assists for 25 points while freshman forward Kristen Book has contributed five goals and three assists for 13 points. Freshman forward Melissa DiLolle has added four goals and an assist for nine points while senior defender Cindy Hansen has tallied two goals and two assists for six points.

Freshman goalie Erin Halliday and sophomore keeper Maria Neville have combined for 12 shutouts and a 0.74 goals-against average this fall. Halliday has 59 saves and a 0.42 goals against average in 856 minutes of action while Neville has 56 saves and a 1.06 goals-against average in 850 minutes of work.
