KIM ZIPF NAMED HONORABLE MENTION ALL-REGION BY AMERICAN VOLLEYBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO --- Senior outside hitter Kim Zipf (Wyomissing, PA/Holy Name HS) of the Moravian College women’s volleyball has been named Honorable Mention All-Mid-Atlantic Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Wednesday.

Zipf, who has been limited to action in the back row for over a month an injury, had 241 kills this season, and Zipf, who was named to the Commonwealth All-Conference Second Team contributed 325 digs, 22 service aces, 19 blocks, 18 assists, and a .272 hitting percentage. Zipf broke Amy Sandt's career record for kills this season and finished with 1,516 career kills, the only player in school history to reach 1,500 kills in a career. Zipf also finished her career with 1,574 digs, second in school history.

During her career, Zipf was named to the Commonwealth All-Conference First Team as a freshman, sophomore and junior and the AVCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region squad the last two seasons. Zipf was the Commonwealth Conference Rookie of the Year in 2000 and the Player of the Year in 2001.

Moravian completed the 2003 season with a 26-10 record, and the squad competed in the Commonwealth Conference Championship match for the eighth consecutive season and was the top seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Championships for the third straight year.
