MORAVIAN’S BEHAGG AND ZALESKI NAMED LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE YEAR

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Juniors Jen Behagg (Hamburg, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS) and Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS) from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Teams of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its third and final luncheon of the 2003-04 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

Behagg, a guard, has helped the Moravian women to a 15-8 overall record and an 8-4 mark in Commonwealth Conference action. Behagg leads the squad with 73 assists and is second in steals with 38. She is contributing 7.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Behagg is shooting 46.2 percent (61 of 132) from the field, 36.4 percent (12 of 33) behind the three-point line, and 78.8 percent (26 of 33) at the foul line this season while averaging 29.4 minutes per game.

Joining Behagg on the Team of the Year were Courtney Porzio from Cedar Crest, Bridget Golden of Delaware Valley, Alyssa Antolick from DeSales, Maryellen Onofre of East Stroudsburg, Amanda Zinobile from Kutztown and Jill Friedman of Muhlenberg. Antolick was selected as the Lehigh Valley Small College Women’s Basketball Player of the Year by the media, coaches and sports information directors at the luncheon.

Zaleski, a foward, has led the Greyhounds to a 10-13 record this season. Zaleski leads Moravian in scoring, 19.5 points per game, rebounding, 7.2 boards per contest, and blocked shots with 19. Zaleski is shooting 52.0 percent (168 of 323) from the field, 26.1 percent (6 of 23) behind the three-point line, and 77.9 percent (106 of 136) at the foul line while averaging 33.7 minutes per game. He has scored in double figures in all 23 of Moravian's games this season and 44 consecutive contests overall. Zaleski has been in double figures in 71 of 75 career games and has six double-doubles this winter and 531 career rebounds. He has the tenth best single season in school history with 448 points this season. Also has the seventh (492) and eighth (477) single season marks. Zaleski is currently fifth in school history in career scoring with 1,417 points (school record is 1,865).

Joining Zaleski on the Team of the Year were Isaiah Pickney of Delaware Valley, Jim Zinn from DeSales, Rich Baker of East Stroudsburg, Jeff Brickus from Kutztown and Jeff Stewart of Muhlenberg. Baker was honored as the Lehigh Valley Small College Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.
