MORAVIAN
FOOTBALL TEAM EARNS A BERTH IN THE 2004 ECAC CHAMPIONHIPS
CAPE COD, MA - Twelve teams,
including the Moravian College football team, have been selected to participate in the
six ECAC Division III Football Championship games to be played on Saturday, November
20.
In the South Region, Moravian
(7-3) will travel to Sponaugle-Williamson Field to play Franklin & Marshall College
(7-3) for the ECAC Southwest Championship in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at 12:30 p.m. while
Johns Hopkins University (8-2) in Baltimore, Maryland will host Waynesburg College (7-3)
in the ECAC Southeast Championship game. McDaniel College (6-3) will face Albright College
(7-3) in the ECAC South Atlantic Championship game in Westminster, Maryland.
In the ECAC Northwest Championship,
Ithaca College (8-2) will host the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth (7-3). Also
in the north region, Alfred College (7-3) will host Norwich University (7-3) in the ECAC
Northeast Championship game. In the ECAC North Atlantic Championship, Springfield College
(7-2) will host Fitchburg State College (8-3) in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Moravian will be making its
second appearance in the ECAC Football Championships in the last three years. The Greyhounds
fell to McDaniel, 21-7, in the 2002 ECAC Southeast Championship contest. The last time
Moravian played Franklin & Marshall was back in 1992 with the Greyhounds earning
a 14-7 victory. However, the Diplomats own a 15-3 advantage in the series which dates
back to 1932.
