MORAVIAN WOMEN’S SOCCER PICKED IN A TIE FOR SECOND IN COACHES POLL

ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College women’s soccer team has been selected to toe for second place in the 2004 Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference head coaches.

The Greyhounds received 36 points and were ties with Lebanon Valley College for second. The Flying Dutchwomen, who defeated Moravian in the Commonwealth Tournament last fall, did receive one first place vote. Messiah College, which has won the four three Commonwealth championships, was selected first with 47 points and garnered six first-place votes. Rounding out the conference poll was Susquehanna University in fourth place with 33 points and a first place vote, Elizabethtown College with 31 points, Juniata College with 18 points, Widener University with 14 points and Albright College with nine points.

Moravian, under the direction of sixth-year head coach Eric Lambinus, returns eight starters and 13 letterwinners from last year’s 12-4-4 squad that played in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championship match.

The Greyhounds will open their 2004 campaign on Wednesday, September 1st versus Montclair State University of New Jersey at 4:30 p.m.
