GREYHOUNDS & TEAM RANKED IN FIRST NCAA FOOTBALL STATISTICS OF 2004
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Five
different players from the Moravian College football team are ranked in five categories
in the first NCAA III Division football statistical ranking released Tuesday. The Greyhounds
are also listed in seven team categories in the statistics through games of September
10th.
Sophomore tailback Chris
Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven Regional HS) is ranked 23rd in the
nation in rushing with an average of 139.0 yards per game, and he is 24th in scoring
at 12.0 points per game. Senior kicker/punter John McLain (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere
HS) is 23rd in field goals per game at 1.0 while freshman linebacker Arturo
Duran (Blackwood, NJ/Paul VI HS) and sophomore defensive back Israel
Aguila (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom HS) are tied for 23rd in interceptions per game
with an average of 1.0. Senior linebacker Bill Carasia (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair
Haven Regional HS) is seventh in the nation in forced fumbles with an average
of 1.0.
As a team, Moravian is tied
for first in the country with nine other schools in scoring defense, having not allowed
a point in the team’s only game this fall. The Greyhounds are also third in rushing
defense at 0.0 yards per game, fifth in rushing offense at 339.0 yards per game, sixth
in total defense at 124.0 yards allowed per game, 11th in pass efficiency defense with
a 60.0 efficiency rating, 23rd in total offense at 477.0 yards per game and 25th in turnover
margin with a +2.0 per game.
The Greyhounds are 1-0 overall
this season and open their 2004 home season at Steel Field on Saturday, September 18th
in a Middle Atlantic Conference game versus Susquehanna University at 1:00 p.m.
