MORAVIAN’S
CHRIS JACOUBS NAMED CO-NATIONAL OFFENSIVE PLAYER
OF THE WEEK BY DON HANSEN’S FOOTBALL GAZETTE
WESTMONT, IL --- Sophomore
tailback Chris Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven HS) of the
Moravian College football team has been named one of four National Offensive Players
of the Week by Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for his performances
Saturday in Moravian’s 27-20 victory at Lebanon Valley College.
Jacoubs,
who was named the MAC Offensive Player o the Week for the second consecutive week, had
his second straight 200-plus yard rushing afternoon with 257 yards on 36 carries and
three touchdowns in Moravian’s victory at Lebanon Valley. Jacoubs,
who had touchdown runs of 53, four and eight yards, also caught a 16-yard touchdown pass
to account for all four Greyhounds touchdowns in the game. Jacoubs had
a chance to tie the school record of five touchdowns in a game when he scampered into
the end zone with 14 seconds remaining in the third quarter, but a holding penalty nullified
the score. Jacoubs, who moved into ninth all-time at Moravian with 1,663
yards in just 13 career games, also owns the school record for a single game with 319
yards at Albright College last November. Jacoubs has three of the top five games in school
history and has run for more than 100 yards in six of his nine career starts. In just
three games this season, Jacoubs has run for 612 yards on 91 carries
with seven touchdowns.
This is the second time in Jacoubs’ brief
Moravian career that he has earned National Offensive Players of the Week from Don
Hansen’s Football Gazette. Jacoubs was the Co-National Player
last November after setting the Moravian school record with 319 yards at Albright College
on November 8th, 2003.
Moravian, which is 3-0 overall
and in the MAC, is slated to return to action on Saturday, October 2nd in another MAC
game versus King’s College at Steel Field in Bethlehem. Kickoff is slated for 1:00
p.m.
