MORAVIAN’S
CHRIS JACOUBS & CLIFF GARR EARN ECAC SOUTHEAST
WEEKLY FOOTBALL HONORS
CAPE COD, MA --- Sophomore
tailback Chris Jacoubs (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven HS) and sophomore
linebacker Cliff Garr (Easton, PA/Notre Dame HS) of the Moravian College
football team have been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southeast
Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their performances last Saturday in Moravian’s
27-20 victory at Lebanon Valley College.
Jacoubs,
who was named the ECAC Division III Southeast Offensive Player o the Week for the second
consecutive week, had his second straight 200-plus yard rushing afternoon with 257 yards
on 36 carries and three touchdowns in Moravian’s victory at Lebanon Valley. Jacoubs,
who had touchdown runs of 53, four and eight yards, also caught a 16-yard touchdown pass
to account for all four Greyhounds touchdowns in the game. Jacoubs,
who has also been the Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week the last
two Weeks, had a chance to tie the school record of five touchdowns in a game when he
scampered into the end zone with 14 seconds remaining in the third quarter, but a holding
penalty nullified the score.
Jacoubs,
who moved into ninth all-time at Moravian with 1,663 yards in just 13 career games, also
owns the school record for a single game with 319 yards at Albright College last November. Jacoubs has
three of the top five games in school history and has run for more than 100 yards in
six of his nine career starts. In just three games this season, Jacoubs has
run for 612 yards on 91 carries with seven touchdowns.
Garr, who
was the MAC Defensive Player of the Week, helped the Moravian defense lead the Greyhounds
to their third win of the season. Garr had seven tackles in the game
with a sack for a loss of six yards, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and his first
career interception which he returned three yards. The Moravian defense forced Lebanon
Valley into six turnovers in the game.
Moravian, which is 3-0 overall
and in the MAC, is slated to return to action on Saturday, October 2nd in another MAC
game versus King’s College at Steel Field in Bethlehem. Kickoff is slated for 1:00
