JOHN MCLAIN NAMED MAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK;
Carasia Earns Spot on MAC Weekly Honor Roll
ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior punter John
McLain (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere HS) of the Moravian College football team
has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for
his performance in Moravian’s 21-18 come-from-behind victory over King’s
College on Saturday. Senior linebacker Bill Carasia (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair
Haven HS) earned a spot on the MAC Weekly Honor Roll for his performance
in the game.
McLain helped
the Greyhounds win the field position game in the victory to help Moravian move to 4-0
on the year. McLain was called on to punt seven times in the game, an
he averaged 37.1 yards per punt with a long of 46 yards. More importantly, four of McLain’s seven
punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. After those four kicks, the Greyhounds forced
King’s to punt the ball away three times and the first half ended after the fourth
downed punt.
Carasia,
Moravian’s starting middle linebacker, led the Greyhounds with a season high 12
tackles in the win over King’s. Carasia had seven solo stops among
his 12 tackles including half a tackle for loss. Carasia also forced
two fumbles in the game.
Moravian is 4-0 overall and
in the MAC for the first time since 1988. The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action
on Saturday, October 9th in an MAC game at Wilkes University kicking off at 1:00 p.m.
at Ralston Field.
