SAVANNAH BAYER NAMED COMMONWEALTH FIELD HOCKEY
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Freshman
forward Savannah Bayer (Newton, NJ/Newton HS) of the Moravian College
field hockey team has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for her
performance last week.
Bayer tallied
three goals with a game-winning goal to lead Moravian to a 2-1 mark last week. Bayer scored
two goals including the game-winner in overtime in a 3-2 overtime victory at the University
of Scranton. Bayer then added a goal in a 2-1 victory versus Philadelphia
Biblical University. The Greyhounds finished the week with a 3-0 loss at Susquehanna
University in Commonwealth Conference action.
Moravian is off to a 7-3
start and has already eclipsed its win total from each the last five years. The Greyhounds
last winning season was in 1996 with a school-record 10-6 season.
Moravian is slated to return
to action on Wednesday, October 6th in a Commonwealth Conference match at Lebanon Valley
College beginning at 4:00 p.m.
