MORAVIAN WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY SQUAD MOVES UP TO 24TH IN THE NATION

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College women’s cross country team moved up one spot to 24th in the nation in this week’s NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country Top 25 Poll.

The Greyhounds debuted in the poll last week in 25th place. It was the first time since September of 2002 that Moravian had been ranked. The Greyhounds spent six weeks ranked as the top team in the nation during the 2001 season.

Moravian placed third as a team last week at the DeSales University Invitational, the team’s final tune-up before the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Widener University at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.

Leading the Greyhounds at the DeSales Invitational were senior Chelsea Mullins (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe HS), who was seventh, senior Heather McGarvie (Medford, NJ/Shawnee HS), who placed 11th of 191 runners, and junior Ellen Hansen (Alburtis, PA/Brandywine Heights HS), who finished 14th.
