MORAVIAN’S MacDONALD AND DEVLIN NAMED LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL
COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE MONTH
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Heather MacDonald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley HS) and
sophomore Matt Devlin (Coatesville, PA/Sadsburyville HS) from the Moravian
College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball
Scholar-Athlete Teams of the Month for January by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball
Organization at its second luncheon of the 2004-05 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.
The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small
college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg
University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III
schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College
and Muhlenberg College.
MacDonald, a forward, has helped the Moravian women open the year with
a 10-2 overall record and a 2-0 record in Commonwealth Conference action, just the fifth
time in school history the team has been 10-2 or better after 12 games. MacDonald has
contributed 37 points, 31 rebounds, seven assists, six blocked shots and five steals while
playing 8.8 minutes per game for Moravian. She is shooting 53.1 percent (17 of 32) from
the field, and MacDonald is majoring in historical studies/secondary education
at Moravian.
Joining MacDonald on the January Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month were Courtney
Porzio from Cedar Crest, Jackie Hartzell of Delaware Valley, Jen
Netwall from DeSales, Amy Jones of East Stroudsburg, Brooke
Martin from Kutztown and Aril Bryant of Muhlenberg.
Devlin, a forward, has helped the Greyhounds to a 4-9 record in the
first half of the season, but more importantly, a 2-0 record in Commonwealth Conference
action. Devlin has contributed 35 points, 30 rebounds, 11 blocked shots,
three steals and two assists while playing 12.8 minutes per game. Devlin,
who is majoring in engineering at Moravian, scored a career high 15 points in the Greyhounds’ 94-91
overtime victory over Widener University to open the Commonwealth Conference season.
Joining Devlin on the January Scholar-Athlete Team of the Month were Randall
Graves of Delaware Valley, Kevin Welsh from DeSales, Andy
Wimmer of East Stroudsburg, David Moyer from Kutztown and Ryan
Bonda of Muhlenberg.
The final Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Luncheon of 2004-05 is scheduled for
Tuesday, February 15th at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.
