MORAVIAN’S STEPHANIE SEAMAN NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior forward Stephanie Seaman (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic
HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named the
Commonwealth Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance
last week.
Seaman led the Greyhounds to a 3-0 week including a pair of victories
in Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian has now won ten straight games, its longest
winning streak since a 15-game streak during the 1992-93 campaign, and the Greyhounds went
9-0 in January wining by an average of 21.6 points per game.
Seaman began the week with 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists
in Moravian’s 100-86 come-from-behind victory over rival Muhlenberg College. It was
the first time Moravian had scored 100 points in a game in nearly a decade (2/23/95), and
the Greyhounds’ rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit despite committing 22
turnovers in the second half. Seaman then scored a career high 27 points
and added 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season in a 75-67 victory over
Elizabethtown College. Seaman also had four assists and two steals in
the victory. Seaman capped the week with 18 points, four rebounds and two assists in a
75-63 victory over Susquehanna University.
Seaman, who was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week
for the second time this season, averaged 21.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game last week
with 11 assists, four steals and just six turnovers in 98 minutes (32.7 minutes per game).
She made 20 of 38 field goals (52.6 percent) and 24 of 26 free throws (92.3 percent).
Moravian, 16-2 overall and 7-0 in the Commonwealth Conference, will return to action
on Wednesday, February 2nd in a Commonwealth Conference game at Widener University tipping
off at 6:00 p.m. in Chester.
