GREYHOUNDS JUMP TO 23RD IN THIS WEEK’S D3HOOPS.COM TOP 25 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL POLL

STERLING, VA --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team jumped to 23rd in the nation after receiving votes for two straight weeks in this week’s D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released late Monday. This is the first time the Greyhounds have been nationally ranked since the 1993-94 season.

The Greyhounds, who are 19-3 overall and 10-1 in Commonwealth Conference action, received 77 points this week, which is one point behind Dickinson College. Last week, Moravian was in the others receiving votes category with nine points. The prior week, the Greyhounds had received 15 points after being out of the list for five straight weeks. The Greyhounds received 74 points and were six points out of the Top 25 in the first poll of the season before dropping to 12 points in the second poll and seven points in the third poll. Moravian fell out of the list after losing its second game of the year and falling to 6-2.

Moravian has played several top 25 teams this season, defeating #11 Messiah College, 71-64. The Greyhounds fell to #2 University of Scranton, 77-58, and the squad has defeated McDaniel College, 66-51, which received votes and is four points out of the top 25. Moravian still a game to play this season with Messiah on Thursday, February 17th in Grantham.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Tuesday, February 15th in a Commonwealth Conference game at Albright College tipping off at 6:00 p.m. in Reading.
