MORAVIAN’S SEAMAN AND ZALESKI NAMED LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE YEAR

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Stephanie Seaman (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) and senior Brandon Zaleski (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown HS) from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Scholar-Athlete Teams of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its final luncheon of the 2004-05 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

Seaman, a forward, has helped the Moravian women post an overall record of 19-3 and a 10-1 record in Commonwealth Conference action, just the sixth time in school history the team has been 19-3 or better after 22 games. The team is also nationally ranked this week at 23rd in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, the program’s first national ranking since the 1993-94 season. Seaman leads Moravian with averages of 14.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She has led the team in scoring 11 times this season and in rebounds in eight games. Seaman, who became the 12th player in school history to reach 500 career rebounds, has also had five double-doubles and was named the Women’s DIII News January Player of the Month.

Joining Seaman on the 2004-05 Team of the Year were Courtney Porzio from Cedar Crest, Bridget Golden of Delaware Valley, Alyssa Antolick from DeSales, Niki Cox of East Stroudsburg, Mercedes Van Wagner from Kutztown and Kristen Piscadlo of Muhlenberg. Antolick was voted by the media, coaches and sports information directors as the Women’s Player of the Year.

Zaleski, a forward, has helped the Greyhounds to a 7-15 overall record and a 5-6 slate in Commonwealth Conference action. Zaleski leads the team in scoring at 17.5 points per game and is second at 7.1 rebounds per contest. Zaleski, who also has a team high 19 blocked shots, has led the team in scoring in 16 games and in rebounding seven times this season. Zaleski needs just 20 points to become the all-time leading scorer at Moravian, the current record in 1,865 points by Dick Kosman ’63, and Zaleski is fourth all-time with 702 career rebounds.

Joining Zaleski on the 2004-05 Team of the Year were Isaiah Pinckney of Delaware Valley, Michael Venafra from DeSales, Anthony Ross of East Stroudsburg, Bobby Eberhart from Kutztown and Jeff Stewart of Muhlenberg. Stewart was selected as the Men’s Player of the Year.
