GREYHOUNDS RECEIVE VOTES BUT DROP OUT OF D3HOOPS.COM TOP 25
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL POLL

STERLING, VA --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team fell out of the Top 25 but received votes for the fourth straight week in this week’s D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released late Monday.

The Greyhounds, who are 21-4 overall and 12-2 in Commonwealth Conference action, received 53 points this week, which is the top team receiving votes and 15 points out of the top 25. Last week, Moravian was ranked 23rd in the nation with 77 points, and it was the first time the Greyhounds were nationally ranked since the 1993-94 season. Two weeks ago, Moravian was in the others receiving votes category with nine points. The prior week, the Greyhounds had received 15 points after being out of the list for five straight weeks.

The Greyhounds received 74 points and were six points out of the Top 25 in the first poll of the season before dropping to 12 points in the second poll and seven points in the third poll. Moravian fell out of the list after losing its second game of the year and falling to 6-2.

Moravian has played several top 25 teams this season, defeating #10 Messiah College, 71-64, and #24 McDaniel College, 66-51. The Greyhounds fell to #2 University of Scranton, 77-58, and to #10 Messiah, 74-68.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday, February 23rd as the top seed in the 2005 Commonwealth Conference Tournament. Moravian will host fourth seeded Widener University at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
