GREYHOUNDS RECEIVE VOTES IN D3HOOPS.COM TOP 25
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL POLL

STERLING, VA --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team received votes for the fifth straight week in this week’s D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released late Monday.

The Greyhounds, who are 22-5 overall and were 12-2 in Commonwealth Conference action, received 43 points this week, which is fifth of the 17 schools that received votes after the top 25. Last week, Moravian had 53 points and was just out of the Top 25. Two weeks ago, the Greyhounds were ranked 23rd in the nation with 77 points, and it was the first time the Greyhounds were nationally ranked since the 1993-94 season. Three weeks ago, Moravian was in the others receiving votes category with nine points. The prior week, the Greyhounds had received 15 points after being out of the list for five straight weeks.

The Greyhounds received 74 points and were six points out of the Top 25 in the first poll of the season before dropping to 12 points in the second poll and seven points in the third poll. Moravian fell out of the list after losing its second game of the year and falling to 6-2.

Moravian has played several top 25 teams this season, defeating #8 Messiah College, 71-64, and #17 McDaniel College, 66-51. The Greyhounds fell to #1 University of Scranton, 77-58, and to #8 Messiah, 74-68, and 57-51 in last week’s Commonwealth Conference Championship game.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday, March 2nd as the top seed in the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Women’s Southern Championship Tournament. Moravian will host eighth seeded Wesley (DE) College at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
