MORAVIAN’S McGARVIE, ROTZELL & RECKER TO COMPETE AT NCAA DIVISION III INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

BLOOMINGTON, IL --- Moravian College senior distance runner Heather McGarvie (Medford, NJ/Shawnee HS), senior jumper/sprinter Kirsten Rotzell (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS) and sophomore sprinter Erin Recker (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua HS) will compete in events at the 2005 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois on Friday and Saturday, March 11th and 12th.

McGarvie, who has the tenth best qualifying time in the mile run at 5:01.67, will run in the event's preliminary race on Friday at 5:30 p.m. central time while trying to make the final that will be run on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. central time. McGarvie is making her second trip the national meet, and her first to compete as an individual. McGarive’s only other appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships was as a freshman in 2003 as part of Moravian’s All-American seventh place distance medley relay team.

Rotzell is making her fifth trip to the NCAA Championships, and her third indoors. Rotzell enters the meet with the fifth best distance in the triple jump in the nation this year at 11.70 meters (38 feet, 4 ¾ inches). Rotzell will compete at 10:30 central time Saturday morning.

Recker is making her first trip to the NCAA Championships and heads into the 55-meter dash preliminaries with the 11th best time in the nation this winter, a Moravian College record of 7.26 seconds. Recker’s preliminary race is on Friday at 6:55 p.m. central time with the top eight competitors advancing to Saturday’s championship race at 5:05 p.m. central time.
