MORAVIAN’S HENNESSY NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

Hennessy led the Greyhounds to a 2-0 record in non-conference action and helped the team extend its winning streak to eight games. Moravian, ranked 18th in the nation in the 2005 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll released last week, is now 14-3 on the year.
Hennessy tossed her third career no-hitter and her second of the season while posting a 2-0 record with a shutout last week in non-conference action. Hennessy’s no-hitter was a 6-0 victory over Wilkes University in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at the Colonels new stadium in Edwardsville. The no-hitter was the first game played at the Ralston Complex field, and Hennessy allowed just two walks while improving to 9-2 on the season. Hennessy struck out eight batters, and the shutout was her 25th of her career, a Moravian record.

Hennessy improved to 10-2 in the circle for the Greyhounds with a 6-5 victory over Wilkes in the second game of the doubleheader, allowing five runs, just one earned, on nine hits and a walk. Hennessy did strikeout seven batters to increase her school record total to 444 for her career.

Hennessy has earned Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week honors three times this season, and last week she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southern Pitcher of the Week.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, April 5th in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader versus Albright College in Bethlehem beginning at 3:00 p.m.
