DeWALT NAMED TO LINDY’S PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN
FIRST TEAM
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College senior offensive lineman Salvatore DeWalt
(Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) has been named to the 2005 Lindy’s Preseason
All-American First Team as the lone center on the squad.
DeWalt, who was a first team All-Middle Atlantic Conference selection
last season, helped lead the Greyhounds to a 7-4 overall record last season including a
berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southwest Championship game.
DeWalt was one of 50 players selected to the first and second teams
in the nation by Lindy’s. The Middle Atlantic Conference had just two players
selected to the Lindy’s Preseason All-American Teams with the other selection
being offensive lineman Kevin Wentzel of Wilkes University making the second team.
DeWalt helped the Greyhounds average 231.0 yards per game on the ground
last season while allowing just 15 sacks and a total of 407.2 yards of total offense per
contest. The quartet of returning starters on the offensive line, which helped the Greyhounds
set single season records for rushing yards 2,541 and total offense 4,479 yards a year
ago, reports to camp with an average size of six feet, two inches and 292 pounds.
Moravian is slated to begin the 2005 MAC season on Saturday, September 3rd versus Delaware
Valley College in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on the new Sportexe synthetic turf at Rocco Calvo
Field at the Steel Field Complex.
