MORAVIAN FRESHMEN TRACY FITZPATRICK & CAITLIN CORRIGAN SWEEP
COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE WOMEN’S SOCCER WEEKLY AWARDS
ANNVILLE, PA --- Freshman midfielder/forward Tracy Fitzpatrick (Wantage, NJ/High
Point Regional HS) of the Moravian College women’s soccer team has been
named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week while freshman goalie Caitlin
Corrigan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge HS) has been named the Commonwealth Conference
Goalie/Defender of the Week for their performances last week.
The duo helped Moravian win three matches last week while the team improved to 4-0, its
best start since 2001. The Greyhounds defeated Wesley (DE) College, 3-0, before traveling
to Fredericksburg, Virginia to defeated McDaniel College, 5-1, and the University of Mary
Washington, 2-0, to capture first place at the Mary Washington Soccer Classic.
Fitzpatrick was held scoreless in Moravian’s victory over Wesley.
She had a goal and an assist in the Greyhounds’ 5-1 victory over McDaniel. Fitzpatrick finished
the week with the game-winning goal and an assist in a shutout of regionally ranked Mary
Washington.
Corrigan, who was named the Commonwealth Conference Goalie/Defender
for the second straight week, allowed just one goal while posting a 3-0 record for the
Greyhounds last week with one solo shutout and one combined shutout. Corrigan began
the week with 84:15 of shutout action in a win versus Wesley in which she did not face
a shot. Corrigan then allowed one goal and made one save in a victory
over McDaniel. Corrigan finished the week with her first collegiate shutout,
making three saves in a victory at Mary Washington. For the week, Corrigan had
a 0.34 goals-against average with four saves in 264:15 minutes of action.
The Greyhounds, who are 4-0 on the year, are slated to return to action on Wednesday,
September 14th in a non-conference home match versus the University of Scranton beginning
at 4:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
