MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE EARNS HONORABLE MENTION
KODAK ALL-AMERICAN HONORS

ATLANTA, GA --- Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has earned 2006 Kodak/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Basketball Team Honorable Mention announced Friday by the WBCA and Eastman Kodak Company.

This year's team marks the 24th year of the Division III Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team, which began in 1983. Selection committee members in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions select the ten women's basketball players to be honored.

Applegate helped Moravian to a 21-7 record this season, a berth in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament and a runner-up finish in the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Tournament.

Applegate, who was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year and to the Commonwealth All-Conference First Team, the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball December Team of the Month, the Women's DIII News December Player of the Month, the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year and the Lehigh Valley Small College Women's Basketball Player of the Year, led Moravian at 19.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7 percent (192 of 345) from the floor.

Applegate, who is ranked in the top 25 nationally in field goal percentage, also added 37 assists, 43 steals and 26 blocked shots while shooting 55.7 percent (192 of 345) from the field, 55.6 percent on three-pointers (five of nine) and 76.4 percent at the foul line (146 of 191).. Applegate, who broke the school record for free throws attempted in a season, became the 17th player in Moravian history to score 1,000 career points in the final regular season game and now has 1,075 points in her career. She also has 499 career rebounds heading into her senior season.
