TEAM RANKED
IN FINAL NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has two players
ranked in the final NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released
Monday while the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 100 in six team categories.
Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) was 24th in the
nation in field goal percentage at 55.7 percent, making 192 of 345 field goal attempts
in 28 games this season. Applegate was the nation’s leader in the
first two NCAA statistical rankings of the year, and she was also listed 32nd in points
per game with an average of 19.1. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem
Catholic HS) was 70th in free throw percentage at 81.5 percent (88 of 108).
The Greyhounds were 20th in free throw percentage at 73.6 percent, making 543 of 738
free throws and 21st in steals per game with an average of 13.6. The Greyhounds were 43rd
in scoring offense at 71.8 points per game, tied for 52nd in winning percentage at .750
(21-7), tied for 72nd in blocked shots per game at 3.8 and 85th in scoring margin at +8.7.
The Greyhounds completed their 2005-06 season with a 21-7 record. Moravian reached the
NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament for the first time since the 1992-93
season and suffered a 93-80 loss to Greensboro (NC) College in the first round. The Greyhounds
also played in the Commonwealth Conference championship game for the fourth consecutive
year.
