THREE GREYHOUNDS & MORAVIAN SOFTBALL
SQUAD RANKED IN SECOND NCAA
STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006 SEASON
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College softball team is ranked nationally in
six statistical categories and three different Greyhound players
are ranked in six categories in the second NCAA Division III statistics
ranking of the season for games through April 16th released late
Tuesday.
Senior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold
Township HS) (pictured at right) is ranked in four categories.
Hennessy is third in earned run average at 0.99, tied for second
in saves with four, tied for 12th in victories with 14 and 21st
in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 9.0.
Sophomore
second baseman Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) (pictured
at left) is second in the nation in toughest to
strikeout, striking out just once in 99 at-bats while freshman outfielder
Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) (pictured
below, right) is 35th in hit by pitch per game at 0.18.
Moravian is ninth in the country in won-loss percentage at 1.06,
tied for 14th in winning percentage at .857 (24-4), tied for 33rd
in home runs per game at 0.64, 35th in batting average at .340,
34th in fielding percentage at .963 and 43rd in slugging percentage
at .469.
The
Greyhounds, who are now 24-4 overall, are slated to return to action
on Thursday, April 20th in a non-conference doubleheader versus
William Paterson (NJ) University at Blue & Grey Field beginning
at 3:00 p.m. The doubleheader will feature two of the top teams
in the country as William Paterson is currently ranked 18th by the
National Fastpitch Coaches Association while Moravian is tied for
21st in the current Top 25 poll.
