ED LITTLE RESIGNS AS MORAVIAN COLLEGE BASEBALL
COACH
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Ed Little, Moravian College’s
head baseball coach for the past 24 seasons, has resigned his coaching
position Friday as part of a planned retirement over the next three
years.
“We want to thank Ed for his 38 years of coaching service
to Moravian College including the last 24 years as head baseball
coach,” Director of Athletics Paul Moyer said. “We had
hoped Ed would coach up to his retirement; however, he felt that
this was the proper time to step down. We look forward to his continued
assistance in the athletic department, especially with the baseball
program in a development role.”
Coach Little, who came to Moravian in 1968, was just the fourth
coach in the history of the program. He led the 1990 squad to an
MAC championship and his 1992 and 1986 teams won the MAC Southern
Division title; each won 18 games, a school record tied by the 1996
team and broken in 1997. The 2003 & 2004 teams reached the Commonwealth
Conference Tournament with the 2004 squad playing in the championship
round.
In his 24 years at the helm of the Moravian program, the Hounds
posted a 327-382-2 record, the second highest victory total in the
71 year history of Moravian baseball. Little has been a member of
the football and basketball coaching staffs and also serves as full
professor of physical education.
Coach Little stepped down as part of a planned retirement. He
will continue to teach full-time at Moravian and will also do administrative
duties around the athletic department including development for
the baseball program for three years.
Moravian will begin an immediate search for a part-time head baseball
coach.
