MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) of
the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance last week.
Applegate, who was also named the Commonwealth Conference Player of
the Week on November 28th, helped the 12th ranked Greyhounds to a 2-1 record last week
with the only loss to 10th-ranked the University of Scranton. Applegate began
the week with 19 points, 13 rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot in a 66-53 win at Drew
University. In Moravian’s 67-62 loss to Scranton, Applegate led
all scorers with 22 points and grabbed a career high 17 rebounds while dishing out three
assists. Applegate finished the week with 16 points, nine rebounds, two
blocked shots and two steals in a 52-48 win at Ursinus College.
For the week, Applegate averaged 19.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game
while shooting 59.5 percent (22 of 37) from the floor and 72.2 percent (13 of 18) from
the foul line. She averaged 28.0 minutes per game and added five assists, three blocked
shots and three steals.
Moravian, which is 8-1 overall and 2-0 in Commonwealth Conference action this season,
will return to action in a non-conference game versus Wilkes University on Wednesday, January
4th at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
