MORAVIAN’S SALVATORE DEWALT NAMED 2005 DON HANSEN’S FOOTBALL GAZETTE HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICAN

WESTMONT, IL --- Senior offensive lineman Salvatore DeWalt (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) of the Moravian College football team has been named to the 2005 Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette All-American Honorable Mention Team released late Thursday.

DeWalt helped the Greyhounds post a 7-4 record this season with a 5-4 slate in the Middle Atlantic Conference, which was good enough to tie for fourth place after the Greyhounds were selected second in the MAC preseason poll. Moravian also won the 2005 ECAC Southwest Bowl Championship with a 14-7 victory over Frostburg State (MD) University.

DeWalt, Moravian’s starting left guard, helped anchor the Greyhounds’ offensive line, which returned four starters this year. DeWalt, who earned a spot on the Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-East Region Second Team this season, helped the Moravian offense average 357.9 yards per game, including 197.5 yards per contest on the ground, which ranked 43rd in the nation ins 2005. DeWalt and the rest of the offense line allowed just 13 sacks this season.

DeWalt, who was a 2005 Preseason All-American by Lindy's magazine, was on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference First Team in 2004 and 2005. DeWalt was on the Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-East Region First Team and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Southeast All-Star First Team in 2004.
