MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
TEAM RANKED IN
SEVENTH NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has one player
ranked in the seventh NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released
Tuesday while the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in two team categories. The statistics
include games through February 12th.
Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) is 25th in the
nation in field goal percentage at 56.1 percent, making 148 of 264 field goal attempts
in the first 23 games of the season. Applegate was the nation’s
leader in the first two NCAA statistical rankings of the year, and she is also listed 52nd
in points per game with an average of 17.9.
The Greyhounds are 35th in free throw percentage at 72.4 percent, making 444 of 613 free
throws; however, Moravian leads the top 50 teams listed in the total number of made and
attempted free throws. Moravian is also tied for 49th in the country in won-lost percentage
at 78.3 percent (18-5).
The Greyhounds are 18-5 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday, February
14th when the team hosts Widener University in a Commonwealth Conference game tipping off
at 6:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall. Moravian has already clinched its fifth consecutive trip
to the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
