MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
TEAM RANKED IN
NINTH NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has one player
ranked in the ninth NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released
Tuesday while the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in two team categories. The statistics
include games through February 26th.
Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) is 22nd in the
nation in field goal percentage at 56.3 percent, making 184 of 327 field goal attempts
in 27 games this season. Applegate was the nation’s leader in the
first two NCAA statistical rankings of the year, and she is also listed 33rd in points
per game with an average of 19.1. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem
Catholic HS) is outside of the top 50, being ranked 66th in free throw percentage
at 81.7 percent (85 of 104).
The Greyhounds are 20th in free throw percentage at 73.6 percent, making 526 of 715 free
throws; however, Moravian leads the top 50 teams listed in the total number of made and
attempted free throws. The Greyhounds are also tied for 44th in the country in won-lost
percentage at 77.8 percent (21-6), and Moravian is just out of the top 50 at 51st in scoring
offense at 71.4 points per game.
The Greyhounds are 21-6 on the season and will return to action on Friday, March 3rd
in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament when Moravian
plays Greensboro (NC) College at 5:00 p.m. in a game at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland,
Virginia.
