MORAVIAN COLLEGE NAMES WELLES LOBB HEAD MEN’S & WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY COACH

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College has named Welles Lobb as its new head men's and women's cross country coach effective immediately. Lobb will also serve as an assistant coach for the Greyhound indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

“We are excited to have coach Lobb join our staff,” said Moravian College Director of Athletics Paul Moyer. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and looks to keep the championship tradition of Moravian’s running program going into the future.”

Lobb comes to Moravian after 16 years as a coach at Muhlenberg College including one season as head coach after 15 years as an assistant beginning in 1990. He coached the first Muhlenberg student-athletes to reach the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships including three men and one woman over the last five years.

“Moravian has a rich cross country tradition with numerous Middle Atlantic Conference Championships and NCAA appearances over the last 15 years,” Lobb said. “I look forward to being able to keep this championship tradition going as well as working with the student-athletes and staff at Moravian.”

Lobb was also assistant men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams at Muhlenberg including serving as head coach during 1992-1993.

Recently, Lobb earned his USATF Level I certification. He also served as an editor of Runners World magazine from 1994 to 2001 and was a competitive distance runner for 34 years.

Lobb earned a Bachelors of Art in Geography from Mansfield University in 1978 and a Bachelors of Arts in English from Cedar Crest College in 2005.

Lobb replaces Mark Will-Weber after 19 years at Moravian.
