MORAVIAN COLLEGE NAMES PAUL ENGELHARDT HEAD
BASEBALL COACH
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College has named Paul Engelhardt
as its new head baseball coach effective immediately.
“We
are excited to have coach Engelhardt join our staff,” said
Moravian College Director of Athletics Paul Moyer.
“He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position
and looks to build on the tradition of Moravian’s baseball
program going into the future.”
Engelhardt comes to Moravian after five years
as a an assistant coach at Lafayette College where he served as
the Leopards third base coach, hitting instructor and defensive
catchers and outfield coach.
“Moravian has had a solid program for years under coach
Little, and he has left an excellent foundation in place for the
team,” Engelhardt said. “I look forward
to being able to keep the tradition going as well as working with
the student-athletes and staff at Moravian.”
Engelhardt was also assistant coach at Muhlenberg
College for one season in 2000-01. His other local coaching experience
includes a year and a half as assistant head coach of the Freemansburg
Senior Legion team and four seasons as head coach of the Lower Nazareth
Phillies of the Blue Mountain League (1998-2002).
Engelhardt earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology
with minors in business, legal studies and political sciences from
the University of Pittsburgh in 1996.
Engelhardt replaces Ed Little,
who stepped down after 24 seasons with a 327-382-2 record. Little,
who has been at Moravian for 38 years, continues to be a member
of Moravian’s faculty and will assist the athletic department
as part of a terminal sabbatical prior to retirement.
