THREE GREYHOUNDS NAMED TO COMMONWEALTH
ALL-CONFERENCE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAMS
ANNVILLE,
PA --- Senior outside hitter Kelly Bauer (Hellertown, PA/Notre
Dame HS) of the Moravian College women’s volleyball
team has been named to the Commonwealth All-Conference First Team
announced Wednesday while senior setter Valerie Korsak (Coplay,
PA/Whitehall HS) and junior middle hitter Jenna
Wallace (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) earned spots
on the All-Conference Second Team.
The trio has helped the Greyhounds to a 16-12 record this season,
and Moravian was 5-2 in Commonwealth Conference action, earning
the third seed in the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
Bauer,
pictured at right, was on the All-Commonwealth Conference Second
Team last season and leads Moravian this fall with 362 kills, 278
digs, 31 service aces and 27assists. She has become the sixth player
in school history with 1,000 career kills. Bauer
has 1,100 kills, 941 digs, 111 service aces, 100 blocks and 71 assists
in three seasons after transferring to Moravian from NCAA Division
II Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
Korsak, pictured at left, leads
the Greyhounds with 1,066 assists to go along with 243 digs, 114
kills, 24 blocks and 25 service aces in 2006. Korsak,
who missed her entire sophomore season with an injury, has 2,537
assists, 535 digs, 293 kills, 88 blocks and 81 service aces in her
collegiate career.
Wallace,
pictured at right, has contributed 320 kills and
a .288 hitting percentage this year to go with 69 blocks, 30 digs
and 19 service aces. Wallace, who has started in
89 career matches for Moravian, has 779 kills, 200 blocks, 77 service
aces and 75 digs with one collegiate season remaining.
Moravian will return to action on Wednesday, November 1st in a
Commonwealth Conference Semifinal match at Elizabethtown College
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
