MORAVIAN’S SHAWN MARTELL, TYLER McCAMBRIDGE
& BRIAN RECKENBEIL NAMED TO
ESPN The Magazine ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior wide receiver Shawn Martell (Bethlehem,
PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS), sophomore running back Tyler
McCambridge (Northampton, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS)
and sophomore kicker Brian Reckenbeil (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville
HS) have been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-District II College Division Football Second Team selected by
the College Sports Information Directors of America.
To
be eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America®
accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point
average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant
reserve. The College Division is made up of all the NCAA Division
II and III schools in the nation as well as all NAIA schools. Student-athletes
from NCAA Division I schools are named to the University Division
Teams. District II is made up of schools from Delaware, the District
of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Martell, who was on the Academic All-District
First Team last season and the All-District Second Team in 2004,
has caught 17 passes this season for 313 yards with one touchdown.
His longest reception is a 37-yard catch. Martell,
pictured at right, has added six tackles for the Greyhounds on special
teams, and he has two kickoff returns for 46 yards and ten punt
returns for 62 yards. In his career, Martell has
caught 76 passes for 1,358 yards and 10 touchdowns. Martell
is ranked 13th in receptions, tenth in yards and seventh in touchdown
receptions.
McCambridge,
who moved into the Greyhounds’ starting line-up after injuries,
has run for 717 yards and seven touchdowns on 155 carries, and he
has caught nine passes for 85 yards and a score. McCambridge,
pictured at left, has also run in a pair of two-point
conversions and completed one pass for a four-yard touchdown.
Reckenbeil,
who was on the All-Middle Atlantic Conference Second Team in 2005,
is averaging 3.7 points per game, and he is 12 of 16 on extra-points
and seven-of-ten on field goals with a career long of 42 yards.
Reckenbeil, who made the first 28 extra-point attempts
of his career, set the school record last season with 55 points,
and he is third all-time with 88 career points, third with 16 field
goals and sixth with 40 extra-points. Reckenbeil,
pictured at right, is averaging 54.2 yards per kickoff this season.
Moravian closes out the 2006 season on Saturday, November 11th
with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff versus rival Muhlenberg College at Rocco
Calvo Field.
